| 10th Annual International High Containment Biosafety Workshop
Activities will begin on the evening of Sunday, May 15, 2011, with a welcoming reception. The workshop will end on Friday afternoon, May 20. As such, prospective participants should plan to arrive in Winnipeg on Sunday, May 15 and depart on Saturday, May 21.
The workshop will consist of participatory modules, lectures and discussions. While a detailed agenda will be provided to confirmed participants in February, the anticipated topics for the workshop are:
- Physical integrity of containment laboratories
- Risk assessments and decontamination of large rooms and areas
- Testing and verification of personal protective equipment used in high containment labs
- Principles and practices of containment laboratory entry/exit
- Principles of donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assessment and performance verification of primary containment devices
- Waste treatment systems monitoring
- Response to emergencies and biological spills
- Implementation and monitoring of high impact training programs
- Quality management system approach to biosafety
- Lessons learned in facility design and construction
