| 10th Annual International High Containment Biosafety Workshop
Winnipeg, Manitoba – Heart of a Continent, Centre of Infectious Diseases Excellence
The International High Containment Biosafety Workshop is held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, city at the geographic centre of Canada and the country’s leading infectious diseases community. The city is home to the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health, the first facility in the world with BSL-4 capacity for animals and humans. Also located in Winnipeg is the University of Manitoba whose Medical Microbiology program has been leading the academic pursuit of infectious diseases in Canada since the 1960s and remains on the cutting edge of research internationally.
Winnipeg is also home to the International Centre for Infectious Diseases, an energetic not-for-profit corporation which seeks to advance Canada’s infectious diseases capacity through the provision of management services, research support services, training and consulting. Smith Carter Architects and Engineers, a world leader in the design of biocontainment facilities, are also headquartered here.
Accommodations
A block of rooms will be held for participants at the elegant Fort Garry Hotel, a National Historic Site built in 1913 and fully modernized in recent years.
